On almost every occasion that the Zonagirante.com team has met to write this introduction for each weekly playlist, our aim has been to convey some kind of message of optimism amidst all this despair. And we try to use the music itself to rekindle the enthusiasm we may have lost during lockdown. And the struggle is arduous, and sometimes we feel that everything is uphill, between what many of our rulers say, the nonsense of flat-earthers and conspiracy theorists, the stupidities of former idols who once played at being bandit lovers and are now decadent deniers, The decline in infections among some of our friends, the unease, and the uncertainty about what the future holds. No one at Zonagirante.com wants to create false churches or sell unverifiable hopes, but we'll say it again: At least we have refuge in music, in good tunes, in its liberating effect. That's why we're glad that many musicians are still doing their work, releasing their recordings, saying what we need to hear right now.
For the thirty-third time in 2020, we tried to put on our best smiles when we heard twenty new songs made in Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay, Chile and Mexico, and whose sound is related to labels such as Pop, Fusion, Trap, Folk, Hip Hop, Folklore, Electronic and Rock. Among others, we added the new single from Superlithium, the latest production of Lucybell, the new publication of Silver Rose and the most recent recording of Paola Navarrete.
We repeat once again our favorite phrase for these kinds of occasions: Find your headphones, step away from the world and listen. This is the Zonagirante.com playlist from August 21, 2020.
