A confession: We're surprised by the numbers of some of today's musical phenomena. We're particularly drawn to emerging artists, those who have only been around for a few months, those who, with minimal resources, have created hits that accumulate millions of streams in just a few weeks. Almost all of these sonic explosions come from what have been dubbed "urban genres" (we journalists are terribly opportunistic and prone to deception when it comes to labels). Some of these luminaries don't even have their own social media presence, and yet they draw huge crowds. Clearly, the world has changed too much lately, at an absurd pace. Still, we must admit that among all these hits that spring up one after another, like bubbles, there are a few sonic moments that we like. These times aren't all bad; we just have to look at them patiently and listen to what lies beneath the surface.  This week we've delved into the film, trying to understand what's happening, and we invite you to listen to the updated playlist on Zonagirante.com, featuring twenty tracks from the fertile and surprising Latin music scene. These twenty recordings sound and feel fresh, ready to wow millions. We've got songs from Colombia, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Chile, and Mexico, encompassing Pop, Hip Hop, Trap, Folk, Fusion, Punk, Electronic, and Rock. Among others, we've added the new single from Kinky, the latest production of Bullying, the new publication of Juana Molina and the most recent recording of The Innkeepers.

We repeat our favorite phrase for these kinds of occasions: Find your headphones, step away from the world and listen. This is the Zonagirante.com playlist from September 30, 2019.
