The editor-in-chief of our publication has few pictures hanging in his office. She has a snapshot of her mother when she was a child. A picture of his two cats, now missing in action. A poster he designed for a local concert. The unforgettable photo of Maradona in the VIP box at La Bombonera wearing a Cuban army cap and smoking a large cigar. And as a curious fact, considering that he is Jewish and also the least religious person we know, he has a poem by Antonio Machado printed and framed, called The Arrow. The editor explains that he hung these verses on the wall, precisely thinking of God.
The poem goes like this:
Oh, the arrow, the song
to the Christ of the Gypsies,
always with blood on their hands,
always trying to unnail!
Song of the Andalusian people,
that every spring
He's asking for ladders.
to climb the cross!
Song of my land,
that blooms
to Jesus in agony,
And it is the faith of my elders!
Oh, you are not my song!
I can't sing, and I don't want to!
to that Jesus on the cross,
but to the one who walked on the sea!
