At the Zonagirante.com office, on the very day of the Immaculate Conception, or as they call it around here, "the night of the little candles,", Permission was given for each sector of this building to have Christmas decorations. However, due to the number of members from different religions and beliefs, any mention of specific points of doctrine and beliefs that could create controversy among employees was prohibited. Furthermore, Strict rules were imposed against the figure of Santa Claus, Father Christmas, Saint Nicholas, Or whatever you want to call that Nordic mobster, exploiter of elves and dwarves. They also didn't want to fall into the disappointing reddish-green color scheme of the season, and even less bring up the non-existent snow in these parts. That said, Many colored lights, connected by very tangled cables, have been put up since early this morning., And the occasional discreet use of papier-mâché, a stigma that has stuck with us all since those unfortunate experiences in our early school years. While they got to work, classic songs of the season played, performed by Bing Crosby and David Bowie, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, and Perry Como. And, of course, José Feliciano. An intern, one who looked like he hadn't realized where he was, He then suggested playing a series of torture-inducing tunes from the Discos Fuentes record label, and all hell broke loose. The director, quite offended (and, it must be said, after a few whiskeys), told him not to return to the office until he had read the manifesto against the chucu-chucu, written by the Colombian writer Andrés Caicedo, The one who identified musical decadence with the vulgar Paisa sound of Los Graduados and Los Hispanos (and their heirs, Orquesta Matecaña, Los Alfa Ocho, and other such monstrosities). The guy apologized quickly, but we all doubt we'll see him again after the holidays. Anyway, that's how December feels around here.
