This is the last weekly playlist of 2021. With the songs we're featuring on this fiftieth occasion, we confirm that we've included a thousand recordings in this space over the past 12 months, tunes from all over the continent, showcasing the widest range of sounds we've ever been able to display. And while we prepare our year-end summary, where we'll present what, in our opinion, are the best things we've heard and seen during this period, We warn you that, if fate allows, we will continue to make a nuisance of Latin American music next year.
In 2022, we're going to delve deeper into the audiovisual side of things, but we won't be your typical YouTubers (we're not up to that kind of image), nor will we be posting convoluted 4K videos explaining the origins of our art. We're currently in the technical pre-production phase and seeking funding for our projects, in which we want to reaffirm, once again, how much the independent music scene in our continent has to offer and how much it can surprise those who seek the best music on the planet. This cannot continue to lead us, by virtue of our poverty (more spiritual than monetary), to continue being mere opening acts for the great international stars, or that, in order to make ourselves known throughout the planet, we have to resort to the caricature made in some gringo office of what it means to be "Latino" (you know what I mean). It's a loooooong process, with many setbacks, but that's our fight. That's our commitment. Let's be clear: We love listening to New Order, Primal Scream, Moby, the Rolling Stones, but we want the recordings of Tsh Sudaca, normA, La Zorra Zapata, Rubio, Niña Dioz, Macaco Bong, and thousands of other potential stars right here beside us—artists who deserve our full attention—to be blasting in every corner, starting in our own homes and on our own sound systems. Think about it. You can tell many people that you were part of a great movement that solidified a great culture, full of pride and delicious sounds. Will you join the cause?

For the last time in 2021, we compiled a weekly list of new songs made in Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Mexico, labeled as Pop, Fusion, Folk, Hip Hop, Folklore, Electronic and Rock. Among others, we've added the new single from Francisca Valenzuela, the latest production of Puerto Candelaria, the new publication of Hello Seahorse! and the most recent recording of Mundaka.
We repeat once again our favorite phrase for these kinds of occasions: Find your headphones, step away from the world and listen. This is the Zonagirante.com playlist for December 17, 2021.
