Today Norberto “Pappo” Napolitano, The man, born in La Paternal, Buenos Aires, and considered one of the best guitarists in contemporary music on the continent, would have turned 70. Paying tribute to his work, the Senate of his country  He established March 10th of each year as the day of the Argentine rock guitarist. Today, surely, if «"The Carpus"» had he not had his fatal accident on February 25, 2005, He would probably be complaining about how 21st-century rock is changing so as not to be forgotten and would hurl insults at all the urban music of the moment, as well as criticizing DJ Deró on a television program, saying that DJs should «"find an honest job"». We are sure that this discussion continues to excite more than one orthodox believer., Those who continue to debate the validity of the use of electronic instruments in music and call for a ban on reggaeton and other urban genres. In short, our team respects and admires Pappo's story, but personally, we don't think he was exactly the nicest guy on the planet.

We take this opportunity to talk about the new generation of Argentine guitarists, those who are already making a name for themselves locally and, in some cases, touring the world. Consulting the opinions of some experts in the field, We have managed, from among several dozen names, to select 10 outstanding instrumentalists from pop, rock, fusion and punk, with strong female representation on the list. All of them are part of the independent scene in the Southern Cone. Each one has their own distinctive sound and remarkable technique, which also enhances the final product—that is, each of the songs presented by their respective projects. They (they, they) are part of the present and, even more so, of the near future of Argentine music, keeping their country's name on the international artistic scene. Pappo might have looked at them askance and criticized their actions, but that's mere speculation not worth mentioning. Pappo got what he deserved, and the rest of the musicians who outlived him got what they deserved.
