2019 has been a complicated year, full of fire, fury, protests and rage in the streets. It has also brought scenes filled with flags of peace and change, and, on the other side of the block, the unspeakable insults, threats and contempt that we didn't think we'd experience for a long time. It's been a rollercoaster year, where we've had to change many of our preconceived notions and adapt to new words and new sounds. Everything is moving at an incredible pace, but at the same time, we still don't feel that what's truly important is being renewed with the frenetic energy we all need. Many of us experience society's conflicts in our own homes, and some of us, even though a wall was erected to divide us, miss those who used to be in front of us. Even so, 2019 has had moments when we have been able to smile, dance, shout with pleasure and fall in love, even if only for a few seconds, from someone who has touched our soul in time.

Although many people have said it, and we at Zonagirante.com have repeated it on many occasions, We believe and know that music rescues us from the hardships we experience day after day. It's our second skin, and in many cases, our best shield. Luckily, 2019 in Latin America has brought exciting recordings that have served as medicine for our pain, tunes that have given us hope, and lifted our spirits to the best moments of existence. From now on, We must thank all the musicians who have been featured in our listings, reviews, comments, and auditions this year., for having made life a better place to live together.

The 19 songs that are part of this year's selection give a clear sign of the changing sound textures of the times in our continent. 2019 has taught us to pay more attention to some genres we were wary of, Not expecting much from them. Some of the selected artists have practically given us a gentle slap in the face with their productions and have made us have more faith in the new generations. We have pop, rock, trap, hip hop, fusion, and happy combinations of contemporary electronic music.

Of the nineteen selected tunes, eleven of them have female protagonists. It is becoming increasingly clear that women have decided to break down the barriers of discrimination and prejudice, and every day they sing with greater conviction and identity. The music in our playlist is powerful, direct, and in control of its destiny and compositions. They, and all those selected, come from Colombia, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Argentina.

This playlist isn't organized in a ranking from best to worst or anything like that. We made it the way we make all our lists: The team organized it from beginning to end to disconnect from people, put on any kind of headphones and get into a particular mood., Enjoy the journey we've prepared for you. We suggest you do this at least for the first listen. Then, if you liked what we presented, please share it with your friends and acquaintances. The good music of Latin America deserves to transcend all the borders placed between us; good music is made to unite us.
