When one thinks of Peru, musically speaking, Thousands of images and references come to mind, due to the country's rich traditional culture. A considerable number of artists representing diverse genres have emerged from it. ranging from Andean music to Death Metal. In recent years, groups like Líbido, Arena Hash and solo artists like Pedro Suárez-Verti have stood out as standard-bearers of the Peruvian rock scene.

On this occasion, I had the opportunity to listen to some of the most recent music produced by the Inca land: a group called We the Lion, which surprises with its first album, called Violet, a concept album which, in his own words, “(…) takes you from the moment two characters meet, fall in love, and separate, to the moment their paths definitively diverge. The characters' feelings They take a large part of what listeners will experience. All the music, sounds, and rhythms will make you feel as if you were there, experiencing it for yourself.”. That's how they describe it themselves.

Being a Peruvian band, self-defined as “organic”, categorizing themselves within the folk genre, One would think that what they do is full of panpipes, charangos and quenas, but no… The indie-folk that these guys settled into It has a marked American influence.“ made by musicians like Mumford & Sons or Phillip Phillips, with whom they share common ground, melodically and harmonically speaking.

From beginning to end, this album takes us on a very pleasant musical journey, in which the guitars, ukuleles, minimalist percussion, well-blended vocals, and wind instruments They bring us closer to well-defined feelings of joy, calm, jubilation, sadness, anxiety, and melancholy.. These are soulful songs, imbued with a calm energy that will surely reach the listener's spirit, filling it with each of the emotions they convey. They are not wrong to say they make organic music, because with what they create, those who enjoy it feel connected to the earth., wherever it comes from.

Is Violet A very good piece of work that features a warm, deep, and familiar sound (for us adults who want to get away for a while from the chaos and worries of everyday life). Well executed, excellently produced, it could become the soundtrack of a journey of self-discovery through unknown landscapes (even though it sounds cliché). I recommend it without hesitation, especially the songs. So Fine, Go Go Go y Part of the Wind.
