The internet is not only useful for making us realize that there are people who like to share stupid things with their peers or where cats have become mainstream figures that make all those who believe themselves innocent in an evil world smile.. The most valuable thing about the internet is that, although many don't realize it, there are special beings who have discovered how to create fascinating universes remotely, overcoming the thousands of kilometers that separate them from their soulmates. Borders become obsolete and disappear. That is why inspiring projects are born, evocative in their goals and exquisite in their results.
From Buenos Aires, a highly talented musician, Gas-Lab, he teams up with the Dominican rapper based in New York, Hache St. and they begin to build fascinating songs that can be framed within something we will call Jazz/hip hop, but without complicating things with the labels that commentators invent every day, We can describe it as a sensual fantasy that travels the entire continent, mounted on networks and satellites., Beautiful bonds that soar through the air without stopping at immigration checkpoints or asking permission to reach any ear in this hemisphere. That is Joy, a brilliant compilation of 10 compositions whose recordings are complemented, using the same method, by the voices of the Colombian Lianna, the Argentinian Sol Liebeskind, the Haitian Me-Stair and the multicultural Blakely Brown, among others.
This album has the fortune/misfortune of being an independent project, which they will not hear about in the mainstream media, and which renowned journalists will possibly ignore. But I can already assure you that it has all the virtues to enter my list of favorite albums of the year, a production of brave discourse and true words, whose honesty and risk should cover every point of the perimeter of our lands, and that teaches us to have confidence that the thousands of miles of travel between the building points of these compositions help to believe that the world can be a small and graceful space. A masterpiece of contemporary Latin music.
