Who would think of presenting the first single from their new album with a video in which the artist, with his rather unique look, Dressed in zebra colors, he shows off by washing dishes while singing? The answer: Someone with enough drive to try (and succeed) in differentiating themselves from the rest of their colleagues. This is how we can begin to describe Fleeing from religion, the new video clip from the Chilean artist Nico Rojo.
Rojo, who has just released his album American Movement, presents his video in which he achieves an interesting drama using an everyday task as an excuse, with interesting changes of perspective that make good use of the limited space where the whole story unfolds, and where the audio's timing is intensely emphasized, adding the necessary drama to allow one to be enveloped by the song. If we wanted to make a cruel and mocking description of this production, we could describe it as a melodrama full of froth and agitation, but the difference between a good piece of work and a corny result is that the former is understandable and captivates us gracefully., And that's what was achieved through the clever editing and the high quality of the song. Therefore, we can describe this work as effective.
Rojo describes his song by saying that “Fleeing from Religion It's one of those songs that I find hard to imagine another colleague playing or composing., because it develops a certain language and sound that I feel is my own. I often compose songs that I feel like giving away because they don't feel like my own, but with this song I feel in tune with my own style.”. Fleeing from religion, In our own words, it has echoes of the eighties without feeling out of place. The artist recovers sounds from other eras to convey a personal pain that, as the melody progresses, It grows and becomes furious without losing its pop coherence. There, returning to the topic of the video, the visual content in its development becomes even more understandable.
Rojo begins the international promotional tour for his album by presenting his songs in Bogotá, performing 3 live dates across the Colombian capital. Hopefully their performances will contain the same passion displayed in this audiovisual piece.
