I must say: A month after its premiere, I have mixed feelings about the show. Seventh day (I will not rest), , Created in collaboration between Cirque du Soleil and the surviving members of Soda Stereo. The truth is, I'm curious but at the same time extremely wary of a show that might disappoint.
I didn't find much to like about the circus and musical events. Some parts of the The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus And little else. Furthermore, Cirque du Soleil comes across as corporate entertainment., where everything is softened and where much of its content is sweetened for the masses, Cleaning up the productions of any trace of rebellion or ideological questioning. All this seems like a desperate attempt to reactivate Soda Stereo's money-making machine, years after Gustavo Cerati's death. But I insist, I'm curious. And the doubt can be cleared up starting with the release of the first promotional video.
The first single, On the seventh day, This is a preview of the musical reconstruction undertaken by Charly Alberti and Zeta Bosio, with Gustavo Borner contributing to the mixing, in a complex process carried out at Igloo Music (Burbank, USA). According to promotional materials, the album is the result of a research project. in which the original tapes were digitized and restored, And then the multi-tracks were opened to work on the new versions. It has a remix spirit that respects the original meaning of the compositions, but, at the same time, allows itself, at times, to incorporate elements from other songs to happily confuse the audience and thus be able to more broadly encompass the band's catalog. In this first single, one of the most recognizable moments of [the original song] is added at the end. Zoom, song included on his album Stereo Dream.
I imagine the ultimate intention of this project is to play, through unforgettable fragments, With the affection and melancholic feeling of a consumer who will miss the most popular Latin American rock band of all time for quite some time. At this point, all that remains is to hope that the show lives up to the nostalgia and isn't simply a sugarcoating of the legend, with a soundtrack that will later serve as a soundtrack for unsuspecting shoppers strolling through any supermarket in the area. I hope we are wrong in our predictions.
