Javiera MenaMirror

This is a good video novel (or if you prefer, you can call it a "millennial soap opera") that flirts with sentimentality without falling into decadence. This Chilean video manages to maintain its humor and poke fun at stories in the style of Corín Tellado., without wasting the opportunity to promote a song with good disco pop content. The best moments of the edition are in that smile that escapes Mena in the middle of her choreographies, where, surely without measuring it in that way, you can feel the naturalness of the artist and her satisfaction in the middle of a meticulous production with careful results.

The Alvears Splendor

The story is simple. A boy observes a girl at a party; she notices and observes him as well. They like each other and, after some subtle games of seduction, end up sharing an intense kiss. Was it all a dream? It seems so., starting with the sepia color used to narrate what happened and then, waking up in a colorful way in a bathtub. Yes, these techniques are commonly used in other videos, but the achievement here lies in how the camera work lends intensity to the narrative and blends seamlessly with a song crafted with a similar elegance to the visuals. The casting is well-chosen, and the set design is appropriate.

Ghetto KumbeDagbani Dance

We might think that every explosion of color comes from Africa. We might also believe that from there, from the most ignored and vilified continent on the planet, comes much of the flavor that the global dance requires. And it is only thanks to groups like the Colombian band Ghetto Kumbé that we are reminded of it. Are we exaggerating? Perhaps, but this video, directed by Lucas Silva and filmed between Ghana and the Atlantic city of Barranquilla, is so vibrant that it evokes a sense of excitement in the dance and celebrates a performance that could be enjoyed anywhere in the world. A delightful clip from a rising group.
