If there's an interesting independent rock scene, it's the Chilean one. For several years now, they've managed to sustain their record labels and specialized media outlets. And there has been a particularly striking renewal of artists who know how to renew their sound. and, at the same time, preserve the essence of their proposals. In Chile (perhaps more than in any other Latin American country), The idea of sonic garage rock has remained with unusual strength, With a responsive audience and well-deserved international acclaim, their raw, unadulterated sound has endured, a quality that is celebrated because it feels natural and doesn't rely on forced marketing to captivate audiences. A good example of this is the duo Magaly Fields

This band, made up of Tomas Stewart (vocals, guitars, harmonica, theremin, kaossilator, mopho, roland pk-6) and Diego Cifuentes (drums, melodica, vocals), It's one of the new gems from Algo Records, And their sound is simply a good mix of rock 'n' roll and punk, made with a healthy dose of anger and a necessary dash of humor. Along with the Brazilian band Water Rats, They have just released a split called Process Generation, whose first single is called Copper Mine. This song, filled with corrosive and psychedelic guitar sounds, fueled by exciting feedback, It takes on a love story, an early sense of aging, and a feeling of contentment despite the circumstances. It's punk without bitterness, where the complaint transforms into sarcasm and becomes a more pleasant tune. Copper Mine It is simple irony without further significance, worthy of being celebrated.

The video, made with old JVC cameras, It is the result of an act of improvisation under a bridge, With editing that respects the song and makes it even more fun, it doesn't aim to go down in audiovisual history, but it perfectly captures the feeling conveyed by the recording.

Magaly Fields' music is already invading countries like Argentina and Chile, and it wouldn't be bad if they appeared in the rest of Latin America. It's always good to receive fresh sound around here.
