A pipe or hookah is an object used for smoking. It typically consists of a small chamber (the stove or bowl) for combustion and a tube (cannula) that ends in the mouthpiece and can be of various sizes. In this instrument filled with tobacco, Burley tobacco is combined with aromatic ingredients to produce sweeter blends. All these ingredients, once the pipe is extinguished, give rise to a new and more intimate musical project: Rhomphonics.
Rommel Rey, a musician from Caracas, after separating from his former group La Pipa Freak, with whom he accumulated a long experience of songs on radio, stages and videos, He decides to go out into the street with his own compositions. In this new stage, he embarks on his solo career, under the name Romphonics, where he demonstrates his talent as a composer and singer.
Romphonics is now available, playing acoustic and plugged-in formats in small venues, showcasing his songs. Along with this, he releases his second promotional single, Be, A rather pop-oriented song, with strong guitars and melodies that get stuck in your brain after hearing them a couple of times on the radio, something he seems to have learned very well in his old group.
This track, with simple lyrics, explore within the composer's being. It seems that in this song Romphonics takes an X-ray to look inside themselves and narrates that this was the right moment they needed to release the songs they had been working on. and embark on this adventure as a solo artist; ¨How long does it take you to choose a moment to do what you want? Are you going to wait until the end to see it all go to waste?".
The single's release is accompanied by a black and white video, with excellent photography work. Its protagonist, a boxer, after wrapping his hands and beginning to train, goes out to fight, focused on his task and being what he has to be, in the best way possible., at that moment in life.
The artist promises that this recording and others will be on his debut album titled One, which will be released later this year. It seems that 2016 Venezuelan pop rock will end up with a ton of good albums, demonstrating that in times of crisis, artists look inward and begin to create, process and leave documents for history.
