Valentina Moyano, better known in the music scene as Vale Moï, She spends her time between California and Chile. It was in Los Angeles where she produced her album. Break down, And that's where she achieves that happy combination of folk, subtle electronic elements, and jazz-pop melodies. Her studio work contains six songs in Spanish and English and includes Home, An exquisite tune, which, although it treads a gentle sonic path, is anything but naive. At times, it evokes a certain affinity with some of the best moments of the trip-hop that swept through us a couple of decades ago, yet it also feels crafted within a contemporary context. The darkness that envelops the composition's original smoothness serves to strip away any hint of ingenuity, revealing an artist who has dared to step outside a comfort zone she could have easily embraced, given her good voice and appealing appearance.
The video for this single somewhat confirms our theory. It's a simple clip, filmed at night in a pool with a view of the illuminated Santiago skyline, but the excellent cinematography and editing, which skillfully chooses the textures, avoid the trap of obvious sensuality and instead play with an alluring mystery that adds intelligent drama to the final result. In short, a satisfying conclusion that leaves us eager for more from this artist.
