MountaineerFlowers in the sand

María Mónica Gutiérrez is one of the most versatile artists on the Colombian music scene. We've seen her fronting one of our favorite electronic music duos in Colombia (Ságan) and the jazz/fusion band Suricato. Recently, Gutiérrez has been presenting what could be called her most personal project, Montañera, whose sound we could describe as sophisticated pop, where her particularly high-pitched voice, heavily reverberated, occupies a large space in the final mix, approaching what some specialized critics might call, in a way, trip-hop. The audiovisual production presents the context of the images accompanying the audio in a rural setting in an appropriate and elegant manner, employing a refined photographic concept and brilliant costume design., which adds a ceremonial character to the whole context. The result is pleasing and helps to better understand the artist's sonic intentions.

Alan Sutton and the little creatures of anxietyThe Rivotril Era

For those unfamiliar with Rivotril, it's a medication containing clonazepam, a benzodiazepine that acts on the central nervous system, with anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, muscle relaxant, sedative, hypnotic, and mood-stabilizing properties. Rivotril is primarily used by people with epilepsy, but it's also used to treat panic disorders and akathisia. Anyway, after this Wikipedia lesson on one of the most popular drugs of recent times, let's move on to the video from this Argentinian band: This audiovisual piece features a high dose of dark humor and irony as its main element, with an exquisitely bizarre script development., Where, of course, the rhythm of the tune dictates the development of the story. Without ever descending into unnecessary silliness, everything flows smoothly from beginning to end, resulting in a clip to be enjoyed for years to come (no matter when this review is read). A great piece of work.

Lucas Bargen ft. Paula de Cárdenas – Mystery of Love

This Argentinian musician, based in Lima, Peru, has always surprised us with his impeccable taste in sound and visuals. His videos evoke a rollercoaster of emotions in the viewer through a precise and elegant combination of archival footage and original material. Of course, he also creates his own musical pieces, crafted within the framework of a beautiful contemporary aesthetic that resonates in any musical genre worldwide. It's a shame that his work doesn't circulate among us more often, but when he decides to publish one of his works, it leaves us with a great feeling.
