Sonoras Mil – Witches:
First of all: Applause, lots of applause, really. This video is an amazing, fascinating, intense work. The cinematography is meticulously crafted, and the editing perfectly complements the song's rhythm. The Bogotá-based group Sonoras Mil has managed to visually capture their psychedelic tropical sound in a truly satisfying way., making the audience immediately connect with their aesthetic intentions and with the energy that their music gives off. Everything is in its place, and amidst this kind of video strobe light, they've even gone so far as to pay homage to the Rolling Stones with a throwback to one of their album covers. Congratulations.
Defense – Don't tell me
This video is a brilliant piece of work in that it knows how to walk a tightrope, pushing boundaries without resorting to the obvious or straying from the tasteful intentions that, we're sure, the filmmakers established from the very beginning. The trick, we suspect, was to inspire sensuality, desire, and, if we're being a little dramatic, a touch of lust, without making it explicit. Simply presenting a multitude of short, close-up shots, full of suggestive gestures and movements, elegantly coordinated in the editing, is enough. Sure, saying it like that sounds easy, but behind that work lies refinement and hours of visual curation to achieve the ideal edit. Brilliant.
Martín Rivero – Kimchi
Few plans can surpass going to the beach in your city on December 24th, at precisely eleven fifty-nine at night, to record a video of your next single and take advantage of the lights and fireworks as soon as Christmas time arrives. However, there's no time to rehearse, no way to organize too many things. Just turn on the camera, some portable speakers to provide a reference for the song, and off you go! In short, Uruguayan Martín Rivero has taken advantage of the spectacular festivities in Montevideo to give a visual framework to his fun love song, and, to be honest, he hasn't done badly at all.
