The excitement of seeing Mr. Celso Piña His performance on the Rock al Parque stage was incomparable, not only because of my admiration for this maestro but also because of being in La Media Torta, a space of my musical loves, a place previously forbidden to such delicious music, to say the least.
After waiting a long time and seeing some rather dense and romantic proposals that sounded a bit too much to my ears, A group of musicians entered, already beginning to fill our hearts with joy. The second voice (a great entertainer) introduced Ronda Bogotá, who silently began to warm up for the accordion rebel's entrance. From there began a musical journey from Monterrey to the Colombian Caribbean coast that included not only cumbia, as is typical of Celso, but with vallenato (and good vallenato at that). With that music that our parents danced to, Celso gave one of the most beautiful tributes to traditional music. Colombia, a country that this musician carries in his soul. It shows in every tune, in every word, and in the pride with which he plays an instrument that was long relegated from contemporary sounds in Colombia, and which, thanks to his charisma, an impressive group of artists have already managed to take around the world., becoming a representative of an entire culture and an ambassador of Latin American music.
Celso Piña's stage presence is moving. This man, with his smile, manages to convey love. Listen Macondo o The paths of life That voice is special. Listening to that cumbia, which is a revolution, an advanced, heavy, rough and scruffy version (as he himself says) is a wonderful experience.
Classics like Cumbia on the river o Cumbia power They couldn't go without Pato Machete, who gives them that streetwise, edgy touch that has become indispensable. This duo on stage is a hit; they understand each other perfectly, and you can see the affection they have for each other and for the music they perform. The songs on her latest album have that smooth Colombian flavor with that representative power in the guitar and the voice that not for nothing makes him worthy of the name, the rebel of cumbia.
This is a thank you to Celso Piña and his Ronda Bogotá for believing in our music., because she felt that way and by transforming it into sounds that inspire and transcend.
