My aspirations as a writer sometimes lead me to unconsciously click on anything that seems interesting online, looking for interesting music; artists that awaken something in me, that invite me to listen to them., I need confirmation that the Colombian alternative scene has hope.
Coincidentally, while I was having one of those boring and monotonous days of incessant clicking, among the recommendations on my Twitter account, the word appeared Sagan, My inner geek associated it with the famous astronomer, and I decided to explore what this account had to offer. They turned out to be a duo of Colombian musicians, which led me to continue my research. Although it's not the type of music I usually listen to, the debut album of this project, called Each Cell, It left me speechless. First, because I had never heard anything like it, and second, because every second that passed at the mercy of the sounds invited me to wait for what would come next. And it was truly impressive.
Maria Monica Gutierrez's voice is absolutely mesmerizing. Her timbre is delicate, as is her interpretation, which has a minimalist touch. At times, I imagined what it must have been like for a siren to enchant Jason in mythical times, and how difficult it would have been for him not to be captivated by such beauty. The music, assembled by Felipe Ortega on his electronic throne, It's worthy of having been the soundtrack of Interstellar. Every sound is perfect, every note fits seamlessly into the cosmic atmosphere of each song. And the vocal harmonies this man creates are incredibly fitting, to say the least. It's been such a wonderful discovery of this band. It's great that these kinds of projects are being developed around here. Their website describes their show as something reminiscent of Carl Sagan. I'll take the next opportunity to see them, and I hope it will be an experience that makes me feel like an integral part of the Cosmos.
